This is what we stand for
As a museum for a national minority, we strive for quality, accessibility, collaboration and continuous innovation in everything we do. We shall be relevant, timely, inclusive and respectful in all aspects of our work. These values guide us in fulfilling our mandate in a meaningful and sustainable way.
Between new streets and old customs, a community grew – with roots in tradition and an eye on the future.
"From Shtetl to Diocese"
The exhibition is located in the museum's basement, and was opened in 2002. It tells the story of the Jews in Trondheim from the time they settled in the city in the latter half of the 19th century.
The exhibition provides a close insight into the lives of the Jewish immigrants who took root in Trøndelag. It shows how families created a home, built unity and preserved their religious traditions in the face of a new reality. At the same time, it sheds light on integration into Norwegian society and how later generations have managed and continued their Jewish identity – in a balance between heritage and belonging.
