Conservation projects at the Jewish Museum Trondheim are targeted areas of effort to ensure that endangered material is not lost, but preserved for the future. Such projects are initiated when individual objects, documents or collections are considered particularly vulnerable – either due to age, extent of damage or type of material. The projects range from the physical restoration of historical objects to the digitization of interviews, photographs and archival material, so that the content can be made accessible and secured for long-term storage. This often happens in collaboration with external conservators and professional groups, who provide specialized expertise and resources.

We regularly carry out projects to preserve endangered material, often in collaboration with external experts. Examples of this include the restoration of historical objects, digital preservation of interviews, and reconstruction of damaged documents.

This is what we stand for
As a museum for a national minority, we strive for quality, accessibility, collaboration and continuous innovation in everything we do. We shall be relevant, timely, inclusive and respectful in all aspects of our work. These values guide us in fulfilling our mandate in a meaningful and sustainable way.
Conservation is about listening to what is in danger of disappearing – and ensuring that it can continue to speak.
Conservation projects
Memories. Preserved.
The work is thoroughly documented and is part of the museum's collection management. In this way, the conservation projects contribute not only to saving individual materials, but also to strengthening the quality and dissemination of the entire collection.
